Ember is an Athens based band consisting of five members. When I first listened to this song I was immediately focused on the lead singer’s voice. She has a smooth, soulful voice that is completely addicting to listen to. After the halfway point of the song, there is a very interesting section that drew me even more into the track. The bass is extremely pleasing to the ears with a guitar part on top of it while the lead singer hums over the section. This particular section brings a new sense of emotion to the song. I was reminded of Die With a Smile in this part with the guitars especially, which always makes me feel a certain way. It elevates the track to more than just a lofi lounge song. The drum part keeps you invested in the song and has more of a natural sound that I think pairs well with the clearness of the bass and muddier guitar. There is also some great lyricism going on like “Look in the mirror, recognize my fear.” This slant rhyme really stood out to me with the singer adjusting the way she says fear to make it rhyme. Overall, I am really excited to see what this band puts out next and I think can contribute a lot to the Athens scene.
